Her name, Gargi Vachaknavi, is found in the Sanskrit Vedic literature. She was the daughter of sage Vachaknu and born in the family of Garga, circa 800 - 500 BCE. The Vedas are very ancient works of great significance, some over 3000 years old. She is honored there as one of the great natural philosophers.
