Dorothy Wrinch was a British mathematician, biologist, and chemist apparently known for her sharp tongue. She advocated a theory of proteins in which amino acids were hooked together in chains (sequences) subsequently shown to be incorrect, although the sequence hypothesis was important in driving later research.
